Majestic Migration of the Arctic Tern
"The annual round trip of the Arctic Tern to its summer nest site is one of the most spectacular migrations in the world of birds. This tern travels from the Arctic to the Antarctic each year. Some Arctic Terns make an annual journey of more than 35,000 km (22,000 miles) in its lifetime; this bird probably sees more daylight than any other animal."

"Reasons for bird migration are still not fully understood. It is believed that greater availability of food and longer days in which to gather food for the yound, may increase their chances of survival."
