Big Name Entertainment Visited Churchill

Tommy Hunter and His Band

The cast of the Tommy Hunter Show visited the patients at the hospital and did a show there. This hospital also had civilian, Eskimo and Indian patience. Some of them were flown in from very isolated areas in the north.

The Tommy Hunter Show was a popular Canadian TV show in the 1950s (and later). They performed one time at the Garrison Theater at CFB Fort Churchill. He, Juliette, Gordie Tapp, and the Rhythm Pals came to entertain the the military personnel and their families. Jack and I attended this show which was aired on the CBC. We never did see this episode on the TV as there was no TV reception in Fort Churchill at the time.

Tommy Hunter is a Canadian country singer know as The Country Gentleman and is still popular today.
